DARKBEAT : An Electro World Voyage
Darkbeat : An Electro World Voyage is the third documentary from acclaimed Venezuelan-American independent filmmaker Iris B. Cegarra. Having explored the electro genre in Bass Frequency (2001) and Electro Dziska (2003), Darkbeat exposes the passion it takes to create and preserve this form of music by the artists, DJ's and small communities around the world that support this underrated scene.
The film expands on the past, present and future uses of technology and its influence on future generations of producers. Darkbeat takes the viewer around the world from Miami, England, Spain, Holland, Paris, North Carolina to Detroit, featuring recognizable artists such as Egyptian Lover, Bass Junkie, Aux 88, Radioactive Man, The Advent, Ectomorph, Dexorcist and many more. Darkbeat stimulates the audience with animation, re-creations and fascinating interviews whilst dropping rare electro tunes for your ears entertainment.
Rob Guertin (aka DJ Uprokk) is an acclaimed electro music producer and DJ with releases on Monotone USA, Transient Force and Satamile USA's off-shoot remix label SatRx. He wrote and conducted interviews for Darkbeat : An Electro World Voyage while performing live in various European cities touring 'Electro Dziska' (2003). Uprokk is currently recording his self-debut album in his Miami Beach studios.
Prepare for amplifier armageddon as the Dexorcist throws down the baddest electro on the planet. After blowing the competition away at this year's BLOC festival as Kronos Device (along with partner in crime Bass Junkie), the Dexorcist returns with a heavy selection of 808 beats and vocoded robot frequencies for an audio assault aimed squarely at the dancefloor. One of the true leaders of the electro movement, the Dexorcist has released fast and furious retro-styled miami bass on imprints such as Battle Trax, SMB and the awesome Control Tower label he co-runs with Radioactive Man.
THE HIDDEN PERSUADER
The Cardiff based electro producer knows which buttons to push to get your ass shakin'. He's recently received glowing reviews for his third studio album 'Electrocratic' on the Access Tonal Communications label and worked crowds into a frenzy with his raw, unadulterated live sets.
After a lengthy hiatus, the strictly hardware based bleep n bass meister returns to the midlands to deliver a fully charged live electro set. Expect speaker shakin' low frequencies and fresh tunes to make your body move.
