Over the last twenty years the discipline of illustration has undergone major changes; computers and the Internet have transformed the way that people communicate and have influenced the production of media. Illustrators consequentially have had to face these challenges both ethically and creatively. Should they leave all traditional methods of image making behind them, or remain with the tried and trusted methods of working?

MA Illustration positions itself at the centre of this debate. Many Illustrators work in both digital and traditional mediums, allowing for the combination of skills such as drawing, printmaking and three-dimensional art combined with digital processes. One issue, however, that has remained constant throughout this period of change, is the illustrator's search for a personal visual language, a unique voice to carry forward into the world of communication.

My work on adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock's movies scenes into graphic novel is reflecting my interest in the dialectic between Cinema and Illustration. The link between all the illustrations is that each scene described gives a lot of importance to the setting design, which almost become its main character.

Stories and Myths invite exploration through imagery with diverse visual possibilities. I am interested in the play and associations made in connecting visually with oral tales that have been passed down through generations. In particular I have been exploring aspects of the Hybrid, and the Greek Myth of the Labyrinth, Daedalus and Icarus has influenced recent work.

I am interested in exploring the semantic content of an image, and my work is based on a series of graphical experiments aimed at examining to which extent different ways of correlating narrative and images can influence their respective meaning and perception.

Inspired by my love of music and rock bands, this project aims to interpret sound, into visual language. My fascination lies with the variety of visual interpretations of the same song; the power of sound and imagination combined, that is different from one's perception to another's. These images, are my response to a song by PJ Harvey, called "Snake".

"The Demons"

This piece is an experiment in cataloging demons of medieval Japanese origins. Their image is softened even caricature of what they are supposed to be (fearsome, horrifying). In this image they are all bound by the clouds of heaven, some breaking through to rise higher, some lagging. They are also dressed in earthly clothes, perhaps these demons were once human, they too are moving on to the next level of the afterlife-an ongoing cycle of the universe.
